With the financial support of the city of
Bienne, MULTIMUNDO and SAD are conducting a survey of all the migrant
associations and clubs, as well as religious communities in Bienne.
The collected information will be released in the form of an inventory on the
website of MULTIMUNDO.
In the last century, the cultural and
religious panorama in Bienne has considerably changed. New religious communities and migrant organizations have been
established, which broaden and enrich society. The created cultural meeting spots and
religious centers provide attractive spaces for their members and take on
important societal functions. The rest of the population, including the
authorities, are often unfamiliar with these communities, their activities, and
their members. Because of this, SAD is conducting a survey along with the
integration center MULTIMUNDO of the migrant associations and religious
communities in Bienne.
Project Goals
- To draw up a summary of the religious and cultural diversity in
Bienne and its various communities and
organisations.
- To make the data and information available to the public via
the MULTIMUNDO website, in order to show the cultural and religious
diversity in and around Bienne.
- To promote dialogue and cooperation between the various
communities and organisations, the population, and the authorities, and
reduce potential barriers to contact.
Project Activities
Information about the communities and
organisations are collected through both telephone conversations and
face-to-face meetings. The purpose of this is not only to gather the addresses
of the migrant organisations and religious communities that reside in Bienne, but
also to get to know more about their activities, their members, and their
objectives, as well as to learn what they consider successful
integration.
The details regarding the organisations and
communities will be made public on the website of MULTIMUNDO. Organisations
can update their information and add to it at any time. The website should also serve as an
exchange platform, on which the special occasions, festivities, and activities
of the associations and communities can be announced.
The survey and the construction of the
database are a first step in the direction of an exchange, an intercultural and
interfaith dialogue, and eventually, for a successful integration effort in Bienne.
