Quantitative Study
ImageTo test the effect of the interventions over time, the psychosocial wellbeing and coping of the participants had to be measured prior to the introduction of an intervention and after the intervention has been introduced (so called pre-test - post-test design).
The quantitative study contained 5 data collection phases with about 900 children and youth. Participants were interviewed with a child-friendly questionnaire which contained questions on the socio-economic status and various psychological scales used to define levels of depression, grief, trauma etc. The interviews were administered by a local research team consisting of 2 research assistants and 8 interviewers and supervised by a local research coordinator. The questionnaires were then coded according to a questionnaire code guide and double-entered. Subsequently a thorough data cleaning process including consistency checks was done. The data analysis consisted of a number of different types of inferential statistics (ANOVA, ANCOVA) to test the effectiveness of the interventions.
