The International Platform on Sport & Development (www.sportanddev.org) is a website entirely dedicated to the thematic field of ‘Sport & Development’. The ‘Platform’ serves as hub for those active and interested in this field.
The Platform www.sportanddev.org is a leading online resource for all those involved in Sport & Development, allowing them to interact, share knowledge and experience. The digital platform contains information on organisations and individuals who are active in Sport & Development and provides access to detailed information about their projects and activities.
The idea for creating the Internet Platform arose in 2003, at the first International conference on Sport & Development in Magglingen (Switzerland). During the conference, it became clear that an internationally-oriented internet presence that meets the specific information and communication needs of the Sport & Development community was necessary.
The Platform was subsequently launched in November 2003 by the Swiss Academy for Development (SAD) and has been operated by them ever since. The Platform has thereafter become the leading online resource for the field of Sport & Development.
The Platform disposes of a comprehensive database containing information on projects, organisations and experts in Sport & Development, as well as Sport & Development documents for download.
The Platform was re-launched in 2008. It was redesigned and new features were added to facilitate exchange and communication between Sport & Development community members.
