SAD wins Sport for Education Award
M4NH is a holistic educational programme for disadvantaged children in Nepal jointly implemented by the Swiss Academy for Development with our partner organisation, the Dalit Welfare Organisation (DWO), since 2008. Using a non formal education approach, M4NH prepares out-of-school children for their integration into the public school system and supports their psychosocial development. By systematically incorporating sport and play activities (besides basic reading, writing and mathematics) into non-formal education classes, the project takes a holistic approach to child development and education. The project's success so far shows that this approach effectively meets the specific learning requirements of children from disadvantaged backgrounds and significantly increases their school readiness: 97% of the children who graduated from the non-formal education classes were ready to be enrolled in public primary schools and after two years, 94% of these children are still attending school regularly.
