SAD Project Nominated for Two Awards
The „Move 4 New Horizons” project has recently been shortlisted for two awards.
For the second time, „Move 4 New Horizons” has also been selected as a finalist for the WISE-Award, granted to innovative projects contributing to education. The WISE-Award comes with a $20’000 purse and is presented annually at the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha, Qatar.
For the past three years and in collaboration with the Nepalese grassroot organisation Dalit Welfare Organisation (DWO ), SAD has implemented the pilot project „Move 4 New Horizons” in Mid-Western Nepal. The project targets children from disadvantaged families, who have no access to school. These children are taught to read, write and do math in a non-formal way. Also Sport & Play activities play a crucial role in the curriculum. With this holistic approach, the Project aims to facilitate the children’s access to public schools and support them in their psychosocial development. Evaluation results confirm the effectiveness of the Project. In order for other actors in the education sector to be able replicate the successful approach, SAD has developed a manual based on their experiences. The nominations for prestigious awards, such as the Wise-Award and the Beyond Sport Award, are another way a transfer of knowledge can be promoted. |
