International Cup of Heroes 2010

"Celebrating Diversity – A Single Bracelet Does Not Jingle" was the theme of this year’s Cup of Heroes in South Africa. Three-hundred inspirational young leaders from Namibia, South Africa and Zambia united from the 25th to the 27th September at the international finals of SCORE’s Cup of Heroes tournament in Johannesburg.

The Cup of Heroes fuses sport, fair play, culture, and community service into a competition format. Youth are inspired to improve the skills they have acquired through SCORE’s Sport and Development programmes. The tournament is an opportunity for the youth to leave their communities to travel, meet, build friendships, and share experiences with other young people who are motivated by social change. Further, it showcases sport as a powerful tool to change lives. Now in its fourth year, the Cup of Heroes is an event organised by SAD’s partner organisation SCORE .

SCORE uses sport to provide children and youth with valuable skills and opportunities they need to succeed in life and contribute to their communities. SCORE programmes encourage good citizenship and motivate participants to be peer leaders.
